Big names are bleeding.
Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy are each in red numbers beforehand and have begun theU.S. Open in ideal fashion. Jordan Spieth is battling as he turned by 1 over after being 3 over through four. Max Homa is right there as well. All by each, just an unthinkable launch to this event.

' Chicago Fire' the befitting lead- heft on USA to golf content. A precursor of Chicago's own Fitzy lighting it up moment? Yes, I have lost my mind.

Leaderboard update
There are three at the top at the moment as Matthew NeSmith, Russell Henley and two- time major champion Collin Morikawa are at 2 under. Henley was the 54- hole leader of this veritably crown last time at Torrey Pines after commanding the first-round lead. Meanwhile, Morikawa may have tricked the entire world by saying his iron play wasn't where he wanted it to be. Easy to say for arguably to stylish iron player in the world.

Every#USOpen played at The Country Club has ended in a playoff. Will 2022 keep that band alive?@HallyLead has the top stats to know as the opening round gets rolling.

Par- 4 fifth yielding birdies
The short par 4 must be taken advantage of by players as it presents one of the many scoring openings at The Country Club. Jordan Spieth and Max Homa just made birdie on it as both took motorist off the tee. Meanwhile, Adam Scott laid up and was unfit to convert his look. I anticipate to see a heavy cure of motorists or fairway forestland.

effects are moving veritably snappily for Jordan Spieth
After a hobgoblin on his opening hole, the 2015U.S. Open winner has added another and is in a spot of bother on the par- 4 fourth. Health enterprises away, Spieth will need to start chancing fairways with chronicity in order to conquer these early troubles.

Every course needs a short par 3
I'm officially declaring the par- 3 11th sick and not in the sense of Spieth or Ancer. Players are taking advantage of the 120- yard hole beforehand and frequently as Hideki Matsuyama just birdied it to join the early lead at 1 under. Others at that number include Adam Scott, Collin Morikawa, Hayden Buckley and amateur Travis Vick.

57- time-old Fran Quinn leads the Open
For all the gibberish that is happed this week, what better Day 1 story could there be than a lifelong craftsperson whose son is serving as box leading after the first 18 holes? He is-1 through three holes and tied with amateur Travis Vick. It's early and will not last, but a cool early Thursday story nevertheless.

Big boys trickling onto the golf course
Defending champion Jon Rahm and two- time major champion Collin Morikawa have played their first holes. Behind them are Adam Scott, Max Homa and a 75 Jordan Spieth. For those of you not in the know, the three- time major winner is passing some breadbasket
issues-- pro move not wearing white pants.

Massachusetts natives protest off the 122ndU.S. Open
majestic touch by the USGA as two original golfers will strike the first tee shots of this time'sU.S. Open. 57- time-old Fran Quinn is the oldest player inU.S. Open history to make his way through qualifying and will begin onNo. 10. He is playing the stylish golf of his career and has paired an ever-present confidence that nothing in the world is better than him with a wisdom that can only be attained with age and experience.J.T. is one of the three stylish iron players on the earth, and his hot putter has restated to triumphs and near triumphs for the last two months. That is not going to change this week as he pulls indeed with Jordan Spieth with three career major crowns.

It's been times since I chose McIlroy as my pick to win a major crown before Round 1, but we've come full circle to this moment. This is the stylish Rory has played entering a major in quite a while, and he is indeed coming off a title defense at the RBC Canadian Open. McIlroy also seems to feel like he has the game of golf on his reverse given his loyal support of the PGA Tour and the traditions of the game. McIlroy has top 10s in three of his last four majors and three straightU.S. Opens. The fact that he hasn't captured one of these coveted crowns since 2014 is stag given some of the low rounds he is shot, but he eventually seems to be back to form. maybe this indeed kick starts a alternate dominant stretch of his career.

The major crown record is poor
but take out his missed cuts at the PGA Championship and The Players Championship, and Cantlay has unthinkable this time. In those 10 thresholds, he has a palm, two playoff losses, three top- five homestretches and another top 10. I love the reigning PGA Tour Player of the Time when we get him on a golf course where off the tee prowess will be influential in determining the winner. He has the complete package, and it's time for him to exfoliate the monkey off his reverse.

Brookline is going to demand precisely what Smith can bring a killer short game for its lightning-quick flora and perfection off the tees for the multitudinous eyeless shots golfers will be making this week. Smith is third on the PGA Tour this season in strokes gained approach and 11th in strokes gained with theputter. However, he will be in the blend, and we have formerly seen him this season hang with the big tykes with triumphs at The Player Championship and the Sentry Open plus top- five homestretches at the Masters and the RSM Classic, If he plays his game.
